Catherine and Marianne

Love knows no boundaries, and when two souls find each other amidst a sea of possibilities, magic happens. Meet Catherine and Marianne, a joyous couple whose love shows in their smiles. Their happiness was overflowing as you can see in these pictures of them out and about in Auckland for their wedding.

I photographed this wedding in 2018. A same-sex couple from the Philippines, living in Canada, they came to New Zealand because you could get married as a same-sex couple in New Zealand. That wasn't legal in Canada or the Philippines at the time. Their wedding took place at the Department of Internal Affairs in the Registry Office.

The photos were at the Winter Gardens in the Auckland Domain, and they were such willing participants, they had a really keen sense of how they wanted to be photographed. We spoke a lot about what they wanted to do and at the same time they were really willing to try interesting ideas.

I photographed them in the middle of an intersection on Queen Street at the traffic lights with people walking all around them as they embraced that. They just loved to try adventurous things.

They were such a fun couple, and it was awesome to be able to capture really intimate moments of just the two of them. So, thank you.’
