Bronte and Greg

What do you say when someone suggests a 5km walk for a bush wedding? We’re in! This was a destination wedding at Dundle Hill, a high country hill top hut in the Waikato.

‘This would have to be one of the most amazing weddings I've ever photographed. The beginning part of the day consisted of a five kilometre walk through farmland and bush to an eco-hut at the top of a ridge and a hill. It's called Dundall Hill and it's like a glorified tramping hut. No electricity, no hot water, yet everyone that came, which was about 40 people, all dressed up as if it was a normal wedding. It was amazing!

This shoot consisted of documenting the journey from where we started to the hut and then people getting ready, the ceremony, and when it came time for the reception it was dark so most of the scene is candle lit. I had to use a lot of flash, but I was able to do some handheld shots with people just lit by candles and that was really amazing. It was really important for me to document the journey to the hut and people interacting. That was also really important for Bronte and Greg and again they really loved the end result and the beautiful photos. I think the highlights for me were, everyone was such a willing participant, to take part in the whole process. That made the photos awesome because, people were just so invested in the process.’
